Frequently Asked Questions
What is the purpose of the Ocean Registry?

The Ocean Registry was created to bring people together through shared memories. Whether family, friends, co-workers or whoever else is special in your life, our on-line gifting service gives you the ability to dedicate and memorialize those special water locations that mean the most to you and yours.

What is the mission of the Ocean Registry?

We aspired to create a unique way that would connect us over shared waters. Our mission is to sustain and acknowledge the heartfelt and inspiring stories of our customers, whether celebrating a milestone, starting a new endeavor, fighting an illness, suffering a loss or any other reason for a dedication. We found that connecting all of us in this way could keep us motivated, help us heal and most of all, contribute to what is becoming the biggest love story on our world’s waters.

What is a Dedication?

A dedication means you are able to select and customize a special water location via our map. This includes the ocean or any other recognized body of water that offers meaning to someone or something special that has touched your life. Visit the details of the Dedication Package here.

What is a Legacy Location/Site?

Our Legacy Package is offered through subscription and means you are able to select a water location via our map that becomes exclusive to you. Once you purchase a Legacy Package, that location is not available to anyone else. Your monthly subscription fee keeps this location exclusive. If your subscription is canceled for any reason, that location will become available to the public. Visit the details of the Legacy Package here.

Can I Dedicate or create a Legacy Location/Site on a body of water that is not the ocean?

Yes! Although our namesake and the very beginnings of our company revolved around our beautiful oceans, we have expanded to include all recognized bodies of water.

Can I Dedicate or Create a Legacy Location/Site on Land?

Our service is intended for selecting specific water locations. Although our map allows map markers to be placed on land, we only accept and acknowledge map markers that are placed on water. If you have any questions please reach out through our Contact Us page.

I received a Dedication/Legacy as a gift. How can I view it on the map?

How wonderful! Once we enable ID search capabilities, enter your Unique ID into our interactive map search box.

What forms of payment are accepted?

Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB and PayPal.

Is there a return policy?

There are no refunds or returns. We kindly ask that you ensure the accuracy of your specific water location and customized messaging before you complete your purchase.

What is your privacy policy?

You can read our Privacy Policy here.

What are your terms & conditions?

You can read our Terms and Conditions here.

What does it mean to register a parcel of ocean?

When you select a parcel of ocean, or any waterway, either through our dedication or legacy package, the latitude and longitude coordinates are securely registered in the Ocean Registry’s database.

What does it mean to view a registered water location?

After you gift or receive a parcel of water, and once we enable ID search capabilities, you can view a registered location on our interactive map by entering the Unique ID in the search box.

The Ocean Registry offers a unique and creative way to customize and gift a water location and does not have, nor gives legal ownership to any water location. Our Oceans and other water locations do not belong to any one of us individually, but rather to all of us collectively.

Our Service Defined:

The Ocean Registry is an on-line gift giving service that maintains a registry of ocean parcels and waterways defined by latitude and longitude coordinates. These sites are chosen by our customers through our dedication and legacy packages and kept securely on our database.
